Having completed a review of Alaska’s lieutenant governor, this blog will now begin the task of assessing the lieutenant governor of Hawaii. Over the next couple of months, several issues regarding the second-ranking post in Hawaii’s executive branch will be discussed in greater detail. First, the office has no involvement at all with the legislative branch, it is purely an executive function. In addition, the office, as a part of the executive branch, does administer a state agency. Third, the governor and lieutenant governor run as a ticket in the general election. Finally, over the years, several sitting lieutenant governors in Hawaii have chosen to run against their boss, the governor, for the top spot. It should be an interesting review, and I invite you to check in from time to time and follow along.
